Brevyn’s Box is very near and dear to our hearts. It was created with the idea of supporting bereaved mothers who have experienced pregnancy and/or infant loss. Through lived experience, we know and understand firsthand that losing a pregnancy through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss can be an extremely painful and difficult process. This is our way of spreading hope, compassion, and awareness while at the same time honoring our sweet little angel, Brevyn, who left us way too soon. Brevyn’s Box is filled with items that helped Toshina navigate the grief process, from a place of intense pain and brokenness to a place of hope and healing. Included are carefully selected items that will nurture the heart and soul:

Cozy Socks

Handmade Foot Scrub

Mini Journal & Pen

Mug

Packets of Tea

Sleep Mask

Forget-Me-Not Seeds Packet

Poem

Tissues

Let’s break the silence of pregnancy and infant loss. It occurs more often than we think, but because of the stigma and shame associated with the loss, many women and families suffer in silence.

10 to 20 percent of pregnancies end in miscarriage. But the actual number is likely higher because many miscarriages occur very early in pregnancy. (Mayo Clinic).

23 million miscarriages happen across the globe every year, translating to 44 pregnancy losses each minute (The Lancet).

Stillbirth affects about 1 in 160 births, and each year about 24,000 babies are stillborn in the United States. That is about the same number of babies that die during the first year of life and it is more than 10 times as many deaths as the number that occur from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). (CDC)

As we begin to share our stories, it will increase the opportunity for improvement in prevention efforts to reduce pregnancy/infant loss and improve education and support for bereaved families who are impacted by such traumatic losses.
